Mobile Debugging Quick Start

This guide helps you complete your first debugging session with edatahub integrated hardware & software in 5 minutes: from downloading the software and connecting hardware, to reading and writing your first Modbus register on a phone.

0. Download & Install

Get the debugging software before you start (the Software Download page consolidates the "Android APP & Windows Apps" entry — click through to the download page):

1. Connect the Hardware

Locate the edatahub ED-N2-RS485 (or an ED-series RS485 gateway / serial bridge), power it on, and put it into discoverable (pairing) mode.

  • Confirm the device indicator LED is in the discoverable state;
  • Turn on Bluetooth in the Shangling app and scan for nearby devices;
  • Select your device from the scan list to complete the connection.

2. Debug from Your Phone

Choose the right tool for your device type and debugging goal:

  • Modbus Master: built-in Modbus RTU protocol parsing — register read/write and multi-slave polling on a single screen;
  • Serial Debugging: full serial communication debugging with real-time HEX / ASCII transmit and receive;
  • Serial Monitoring: passively capture bus frames without affecting online devices;
  • Slave Search: automatically scan online RS485 devices to inventory bus slaves quickly.

3. Configure Serial Parameters

  • Baud rate: 1200 ~ 115200 bps
  • Data bits: 7 / 8
  • Stop bits: 1 / 2
  • Parity: none / odd / even

4. Read & Write Your First Register

Enter the slave address and register address in the Modbus master and tap "Read" to see live values. Once configured, you are ready for real debugging.

5. Custom Development & Data to the Cloud

Want to integrate debugging into your own system, or settle device data into the cloud? See Services & Custom Development, or read the SDK Docs to learn how to integrate with zero hardware R&D.
